【Echo Tech】 What is “Obon”?
In Japan, we call period of summer vacation “Obon”.
This time, we would like to explain easily about this Obon.
Obon is an event held in Japan during the summer to worship the spirits of ancestors. It is an event, mixture of Japanese traditional ancestor worship culture and Buddhism.
Cucumber and eggplant on first picture which are resembled to cow and horse are called “Shoryo-uma”.
It is believed that this Shoryo-uma helps the spirits of the dead to return their home quickly and go back slowly with a lot of offerings. Some Japanese make it and decorate their alter during Bon festival.
There are more interesting Japanese summer events, and when we had timing, we would like to introduce those too.
Please share us if there is any interesting event which is held in your country in August!
