Usage of Grinding stones.
This polishing stone is used for polishing metal. It is an excellent tool for removing paint from metal and polishing. It is also a useful replacement blade for removing paint when repainting a miniature car.
The tool used for polishing was a pair of round pliers that had become rusty and were stored in the back of a toolbox. When checking the condition of the rust, it was first noticed that the rust was concentrated near the handle. It was also discovered that small pieces of rust had appeared all over the area around the moving parts, which at first glance looked clean. If the tool continued to be used as is, there was a risk of problems such as rust spilling out during work, so it was decided to polish it with a polishing stone.

The grinding stone used was #120, the coarsest of all. This blade will be used to remove the rust. The ultrasonic cutter used was the ZO-80, which is particularly excellent for long-term continuous use, and the power setting was set to Normal. First, place the tip of the grinding stone against the lump of rust and slide the blade over it. It’s easier to imagine it as moving the blade along in the same way as a plane. Where the blade touches the rust will burn black and peel off in an exciting way. The key to using it is to never apply force. The only force you should apply from above is the weight of the handpiece. Note that some burnt rust will fly up, so it’s recommended to wear a mask and goggles while working.

After removing the larger rust areas, we started polishing the entire piece. Lay the handpiece flat and rub the surface of the polishing stone. Rub the belly of the polishing stone over the body of the tool to remove the fine rust, polishing the entire metal. Polishing began and the work was completed in about two minutes. We were able to remove most of the rust that had floated to the surface, starting with the clump of rust near the handle.
