【Echo Tech】 What materials are used in automobile except metal?

We have many orders from customers who wants to make processing on automobile.
Ultrasonic cutter ZO series could not cut metal and aluminum, which is major materials that consisting car component.

Then, which materials are they processing with ultrasonic cutter?

Plastic

Light’s shield, camera shield, bumper, those parts are made by plastic, and it’s major parts that users do processing with ultrasonic cutter. Mostly, it done for car remodeling.

(Plastic type) ※We are not sure whether each of those are cuttable or not.
Polypropylene(PP), Polyethylene(PE), ABS resin, Polyamide(PA, Nylon), Polyacetal(POM), Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT), Polycarbonate(PC), Polyphenylene sulfide(PPS), etc.

“Make automobile more light weight”, is one of important theme in automotive industry.
Plastic is a key material, that will lead us achieving this goal. Battery, intake manifold, door trim, some parts are changing to plastic made. In future, we might see car that is mostly made by plastic parts.

Carbon

Carbon is un-corrosive, and it’s durable, light weight than metal.
Mostly it used in external parts, such as engine food, rear bumper, etc.

The carbon type used is automobile, called CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics).
It’s a composite board of carbon and plastic. CFRP separates in two types, “dry carbon” and “wet carbon”. Method of forming and forming liquid type is different.

If the carbon board were thick(thick than 2 mm) or made harder, ultrasonic cutter might not work.

Wood

You might never heard there are wood made automobile parts.

The name of wood is, Cellulose nano-fiber.

This materials has focused as substitution of resin parts, purposed to decrease Co2 on a phase of parts producing. It’s a environment-friendly product and because it could get very cheaply, we could expect for next new key material.

By the way, we never tried use ultrasonic cutter on Cellulose nano-fiber.
On a movie, we cut wooden chopsticks. Wooden chopsticks thickness and hard level is a limit of cuttable wood. If it cut more thick and harder wood, it will burn and smoke generates from surface. Because we never tried, we could not even say it’s possible or not.
